Below are a few announcements for DES:
1. We have a Cubtastic Assembly on Friday morning (8:20ish). If your child is receiving an award you should have been contacted by their teacher. If your child is receiving an award you are welcome to attend. We will be streaming it on our Facebook/Webpage.
2. There is no School on Monday, January 15 in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
3. If your child is a 5'th grader and would like to participate in the Dirigo Drama Club, please reach out to either Ms. Nolette (lnolette@rsu56.org) of Ms. Johnson (ajohnson@rsu56.org) - they both teach at the high school and the drama practices are currently scheduled for Monday & Wednesdays after school.
4. If your child is in grade 5 and would like to participate in middle school wrestling please make sure all of their sports paperwork is turned in. Also please let their teacher know they would like to participate and if they will need to take the activity bus home after practices. Middle School Wrestling starts at the end of January.
5. If you have not returned the form sent home by Guidance (To K and Grade 2) regarding our mandatory "Sexual Assault Prevention" Training. Please sign and return to your teacher. If you have questions about it, please check out the website provided. This training is done by an outside trainer and is part of a state of Maine mandate for schools. Grade 1 will have their training later in March.
6. We are entering another round of formal assessments with students. Below is a schedule:
January 8 - 19 - K-2 NWEA Fluency Assessment
January 23-Feb 1 - NWEA Assessment k-5
February 6 - NAEP Assessment for Grade 4 (please see the letter that was sent home on January 8, 2024).
