Dear Parents of DES 5th Grade Students,
I would like to inform you about a recent decision made by the school board regarding middle school sports. Participation has been limited to students in grades 6-8. However, if roster spots remain available after 6th to 8th graders have had the opportunity to fill the teams, 5th graders will have the chance to try out to fill the remaining spots. The number of roster spots will be determined based on safety for our students. This number may differ from team to team, and will be reevaluated each year.
If roster sizes permit, the tryouts for any available spots for 5th graders will begin next Monday 9/9/24. A notice will come home on Thursday about which teams have availability for 5th graders to try out.
Please remember that required paperwork, a copy of their insurance card, and documentation of a current physical will be necessary prior to participation.
